Preparing A Property Wish List

When starting to shop for your new home it's always helpful to start with a basic list of things that you would love to have.  As you go through the shopping experience expect that this list will undoubtedly change; you'll exchange some of your old wish list items with new ones.  The list below is an easy checklist to help you start setting your priorities before shopping to help you avoid buyer's fatigue and make the process that much more enjoyable.

1. What neighbourhood would you like to live in?

2. What school district would you like to be in? (Prior blogs on School Districts and Toronto Private Schools might aid you in this decision)

3. How close do you need to be to:     

  •     Public Transportation
  •     Airport
  •     Major Highways
  •     Shopping/Grocery Stores

4. What type of architectural style to you prefer?

5. How much repair and renovations are you willing to do?

6. Do you have special facilities or needs that the home must meet?

7. Do you need a fenced in yard?

8. Put the following items into one of the following two groups: Must Have  or   Would Be Nice

  • Yard
  • Garage
  • Patio/Deck
  • Pool
  • Family Room
  • Formal Dining Room
  • Eat-In Kitchen
  • Laundry Room
  • Basement
  • Attic
  • Fireplace
  • Air Conditioning
  • Hardwood Floors
  • View
