What’s Happening in Toronto: The Fringe Festival July 6th-17th

The Toronto Fringe Festival, first started in 1989, is back!  For those of you that are unfamiliar with the event it takes place until at over 25 venues in the west end of Toronto and features more than 140 different productions.  Using a lottery or first come-first-serve system to decide on which performances are part of the festival, the productions are varied.  There really is something for everyone with musicals, comedies, family programming, drama, dance, improv and visual artists (this is a new add for 2011).

The heart of the festival is the Fringe Club at Honest Ed’s (581 Bloor St. West) which includes the Visual Fringe’s eight living gallery spaces and all kinds of free forums, discussions and late night cabaret performances.  The wonder of the Fringe is that you never really know what you’re going to see. The four star shows may not be your cup of tea, and the “one star wonders” can sometimes be the most fun.  Check out this link for blogTo's list of recommended shows and this link for a full listing of shows.  It's a great event, take the time to enjoy it!
