CIVIC ACTION | Two Toronto neighbourhoods on quest to become Canada’s first urban carbon neutral communities

On the weekend two Toronto Neighbourhoods, Riverdale and the Junction, started on their quest to become Canada's first urban carbon neutral communities.

The launch parties happened on Saturday and now in the first stage of the project, home and businesses in the two areas will be surveyed to develop a baseline of emissions, develop a carbon footprint and identify reduction opportunities.  Organizers will then consult with experts about strategies and solutions and in the final stage implement a reduction plan in both neighbourhoods.

I'll be following the progress of this initiative as it unfolds.  Congratulations to the organizers for starting such a great initiative and good luck to all that are participating!
