Is There a Bathroom In There? Tips and ideas for keeping your bathroom organized

Have you ever reached inside of your bathroom medicine cabinet to grab the toothpaste and had a small avalanche of products fall on you?  Or have you tried searching under the sink for the hair dryer only to find that it seems to have disappeared under a pile of miscellaneous bathroom paraphernalia?  Do you often find yourself holding a pile of clean towels trying to figure out where exactly they should be put and debating about how bad it would be to pile them on top of the toilet?
If any of these sound familiar then it is most likely your bathroom needs a little organizational tweaking!  Here are a few tips and photos that might help you get your bathroom under control.
  • Purge that medicine cabinet!  Don’t store unnecessary items in the medicine cabinet, make it a location for items that are used daily or at the very least, regularly.
  • Invest in some storage bins.  Organize items that are alike in each bin and store them under the sink, on a shelf, or in a linen closet (if you have one).
  • No counters under your sink? No problem! Install a floating shelf underneath it, you can use it to store towels, bins or whatever you need the most.
  • Create some creative towel storage.  Think hooks or baskets strategically placed around the bathroom.
  • Reclaim that dead space around your toilet! Build shelves above or beside, depending on space and your personal taste.

  • Jar it up!  Apothecary and mason jars are great choices for storing necessities like cotton swaps, bath salts, and Q-tips.

  •  Make the shower caddy functional.  Much like the medicine cabinet, the shower cabinet can become a haven for unnecessary items.  Think about it, do you really need 3 bottles of shampoo?
  • Use the back of the bathroom door.  If you’re tight on mirror space, consider adding a full-length mirror; if you’re tight on spaces to install hooks, the door is a great place to hang some!
  • Keep your cabinets organized.  Here are two great ideas:
