Shopping For A New Home? Here are some tips for creating a property wish list

Shopping for a new home should be an enjoyable experience, however, in reality for many it can often become a frustrating and challenging burden.  That’s why I recommend putting together a property wish list before starting the process.  Basically this means putting together a  list of things that you would love your new home to have.  Simple really!   As you shop around expect that your wish list will change, but not having a starting point will just lead to frustration.  Check out the list below, it includes some basic criteria to help you start creating your own personal property wish list.  Have fun!

 

The Property Wish List for Buyers

1. What neighbourhood would you like to live in?

2. What school district would you like to be in? (Prior blogs on School Districts and Toronto Private Schools might aid you in this decision)

3. How close do you need to be to:

  •     Public Transportation
  •     Airport
  •     Major Highways
  •     Shopping/Grocery Stores

4. What type of architectural style to you prefer?

5. How much repair and renovations are you willing to do?

6. Do you have special facilities or needs that the home must meet?

7. Do you need a fenced in yard?

8. Put the following items into one of the following two groups: Must Have  or   Would Be Nice

  • Yard
  • Garage
  • Patio/Deck
  • Pool
  • Family Room
  • Formal Dining Room
  • Eat-In Kitchen
  • Laundry Room
  • Basement
  • Attic
  • Fireplace
  • Air Conditioning
  • Hardwood Floors
